My journey to midwifery began when my family relocated from San Francisco to Chicago. I went back to school to become a nurse. At the time, it never crossed my mind that I would be a midwife. But after the birth of my second child, I developed some interest in maternal nursing and transferred to the Labor & Delivery unit. I truly enjoyed taking care of our families as they welcomed their baby into this world and wanted to learn more about moms, babies, and families. I went back to school again but this time it was to get my Master Degree in Maternal Child Nursing and Midwifery and upon graduation, started working as a midwife for a hospital-owned midwifery practice where I not only gained a lot of experience but developed an interest in holistic, family centered, evidence-based, shared decision making midwifery care. In the Summer of 2017, to better serve the women in our community, I founded My Mindful Birth to support women who want to give birth to their child in the comfort of their home and on their own terms.

My husband, Patrick, and I have been together for many years and are empty-nesters. We have two sons whom we are very proud of. Our oldest one lives in Alabama and the younger one is in College in Arizona. I love to read about anything related to birth, I love to cook and garden and take my dogs for some walk. In my spare time, I volunteer for a canine rescue organization.
